Smile LMM 1:24 Porsche 908 Le Mans 1969.

Again a kit is finished. It is almost becoming a habit. 3 kits finished during the last month. Yes – Yes. This time the Le Mans Miniatures 1:24 Porsche 908. Maybe the most famous car NOT to win Le Mans. Finished almost first in 1969. I think the gap was under a second after 24 hours. I have always liked this Porsche, but for many years did only the Heller junk kit exist. Thank you to LMM for doing this baby. It is also done by Fisher. I only know this kit from a few pictures, but it looks more simple.
The resin parts are very good. Worst part of the kit is as always with LMM the decals. I was lucky that two decals sheets were included, because the risk of ruin a decal or two is almost 100 %. They don’t glue – Johnson floor polish is a must. A weak point is the glass parts. Most of the glass parts should have been yellow tinted (like in the Fisher kit), but they are not. I used Alclad clear yellow, but it tend to be more yellow than the real car. A good point is that LMM include a “backup” for the clear parts, which was also needed for the project. A big problem when building the kit is the yellow glass parts, because they are not “framed”, but “nailed” on the real car. I tried to simulate this using rivets and it looks quite good. But the rivet heads are too big. They were the best I had at that time.
All in all a very nice, but also an expensive kit from LMM. But it is worth the money.

Nice! OT, but why did they use yellow´ed glass on the 1:1 car?

Please correct me if i am wrong, the yellow windows and headlight covers used on the 917 were made of a hardened plastic, plexiglass.
