Interior lights

Hi there
I have a 84 318i. Since I bought it, the interior lights and the door chime is not working.I have checked all the fuses and bulbs but nothing is wrong. Also the clock works wierdly. It comes on and then off.If it is ON and I open the driver's door it will turn off and reset to 0:00.
Any ideas?
Thanks a lot

Re: Interior lights

you might want to check the grounding points and make sure they are not rusty around them. a simple cleaning will help a lot of electrical problems.

there are several grounding points in a E30 318i. They are:

1. in the engine compartment on the right shock tower
2. on the top rear of the engine
3. behind the left headlight on the fender
4. just above the brake pedal
5. on the steering column
6. left side of rear seat bottom
7. luggage compartment
8. windshield header

not sure if that is it, but i hope it helps.
