1986 Delta 88 Fuel Filter location

I have an 86 Delta 88 6 cylinder fuel injected. Where is the fuel filter located?

just under the driver side rear door underneath. It is a pita to change if you dont read a chiltons manual and take the fuel pump fuse out and go thru the correct procedure?

What is the purpose of changing it?

Thanks- Sounds like too much work. But I just bought the car and it has 150k on it. Thought it might be a good idea.
