97 jetta gls auto, hose flange replacement

hi,

anyone knows how to replace a hose flange on 97 jetta gls. I was able to take the old one out with considerable dificulty but just impossible to put it back together. Also, think I stripped the hole on one side because the bolt keeps spinning and not tight enough for the o-ring to lock a seal so it leaks. In addition to this, I was able to pull the c-clips off very easily but having a tough time putting them back on so is there a tool I need to get. Any diagrams would be helpfull also.

thx.

I take it you're replacing the one on the end of the head above the transaxle. I don't know of any good diagrams except the VW ETKA (parts diagrams). I reccomend replacing the o-rings on the sensors also, perhaps you're tying to put the clip back at the wrong ange, it's easy to do. They just pop in once you've got it positioned correctly. Check the bolt threads, if you stripped te threads in the head they will have to be re-tapped.
