Got some parts for my car

As you know, I drive a 1992 Firebird with a V6 5-Speed Manual.

Well I don't know if I said anything (I did, I just felt like saying that) but soon enough I'll be dropping (I know it involves more then dropping, I've done engine swaps before) a V8 in. I hope to create a 396 smallblock chevy, with about 300ish hp, and if I decide to put on a turbo, then it should be at 400ish hp.

Anyway, I went to the junkyard today, and long behold, he had a 1991 formula firebird, a 1989 trans am firebird, and a 1986ish IROC-Z just sitting there. Well I go up to the formula, and it has the hood that I want, a powerbulge as some call it, and the hatch with the defogger, and the formula /gta spoiler. So I go into the shop, and the guy says 75 for the hood and 100 for the hatch. Awesome deal, but being around my father, and going to alot of swap meets leads me to say "will you take 125 if I remove it and take them today". Bingo, he accepts, and into this van I put a hood, a hatch, and some misc parts off the car, and on to home I come!

The car was black, and in dire need of paint, and my car is teal. So come next week when OHIO FINALLY GETS A BLOODY NICE DAY OUTSIDE, I'll be painting the hood. The hatch wont be going on probably until mid summer.

Pictures of before and after coming soon, like in a few hours.

Re: Got some parts for my car

Keep in mind that I picked the hood up at the junkyard, so she needs paint, but I really like it!

I will post more picks when I get paint on the hood, and even more picks when I get my new hatch on!

Re: Got some parts for my car

i got the blue stock hood with my black formula. I'd love to replace the cowl hood, but the colors are off, obviously.

you should go back and get the following parts from those cars before someone else does:

trans am fenders with the fender vents
trans am or Iroc anti sway bars
posi rear end (see if one has disc brakes)
v8- motor mounts
trans am taillights

the wya that junkyard bargains, you should be able to get all of that for cheap.

regarding the engine- get a copy of the current issue of "car craft" they're building a 500 hp small block.

Re: Got some parts for my car

The car I got these parts off of was a Formula WS6. I went back today, before you posted this, and got some of the "performance suspension" items, for when I redo the suspension on my car.

I know for a fact that the strut bar was gone from the formula, and iroc he had, I looked for that specificaly. Im going to want a posi rearend, but unfortunatly with the my momey so tight, that will come later down the road, but before the new engine.
