steering problem with 97 cavalier

Hi when i make a turn i hear a loud clunking noise and its getting worse, is there some sort of ball joint that connects the steering column with the drive shaft and if that is worn out about how much should it cost me to fix the problem

CV Joints, tie rod ends, other things are just as likely. Go get it looked at if you can't figure it out. Last thing you need is your steering going out on you.

I've got the same problem in my 01' Cavalier. You're not alone. There's a technical service bulletin out from GM about this issue. You need to replace your Intermediate Steering Shaft. I paid $77.00 for the dealer to tell me this. Then I subscribed to www.alldatadyi.com and it said the same thing! I bought the part from the dealer for $67.00 and am going to try to do it myself tonight. If not, Pep Boys said they would put it in for $150.00.... hope this helps!
