CRX SI vs 3000GT
On my way to SC with a friend for the weekend I came up behind a green 3000GT (not VR4) and pulled up next to it at about 70-75mph. He stepped on it so I dropped to third gear and started pulling on him, I shifted to 4th at bout 90mph. I shifted into 5th at around 120mph and was about 4 or 5 carlengths ahead before I hit the brakes and hauled down to 70-75mph. The 3000GT had aftermarket exhaust, rims, and dark tint, we couldn't tell if it was a base model or an SL but it wasn't a VR4 for sure. Either way it was a pretty good kill i'd say, what are they supposed to run in the 1/4?

good kill. even better that you had to come up from behind to pass him. 3000gt's are good cars (from my view) we dont see many out here where i live.

They only run 16's? it's kind of sad that there's that big a gap in performance between the turbo/NA cars but 16's seems so slow for a V6. My car was in the 16's not long ago, 15's now, 14's soon...

Damn my 2 gear does 80 - 85 mph @ 7,300 - 7,500 rpm
and my 3rd gear does 120 -125 mph at the same rmp range. I guess my 4 speed Auto has a different ratio then most 5 speed manual cars. I might as well drive a 3speed auto since i never get a long enough road to use 4th. ![]() you're right though 16's is a bit slow for a V-6, even more so for a 3000 GT.

Nice kill. There are SL models that pull mid 15s. I wonder if you ran into one of the few base models that they made (No badging of SL or VR4 on it). Those only had a 161hp and were up in the 17s in the 1/4. Either way, it was still a good kill.

if it were a 17 second car i would have spanked it much worse than i did, i'm guessing it was a mid to high 15 car although it's hard to tell at the speeds we were traveling. My friends Eclipse GST beats a lot of Z28's at the track but would spank them way worse on the highway at speed where wheelspin isn't a problem. He beat a 3000GT VR4 from a rolling start, if he raced one from a stop they would get a major lead on him. I might be picking up some drag radials for pretty cheap pretty soon, hopefully get some sub-2 second 60' times

Off the top of my head...
14b turbo upgrade Manual boost controller Fuel pump (not sure what kind) 2.5" exhaust (soon to be 3") lowering springs performance downpipe Apex AFC Boost and AFR gauges probably some more stuff but that's all i can think of, good for mid thirteens on street tires boosting around 18psi.
