Anyone use the projector headlights sold on EBAY?

Hello group..
Just bought my first chevy truck since my Dad's 72 Cheyenne..Bought a 2000 Silverado LT and love it..Been looking on EBAY at all the neat stuff and saw projector style headlight replacements. I have those factory on my Passat and love them, but was wondering how they compare to the standard OE headlights..The lower lenses on my truck are a bit foggy and some of them come with these too so would be able to spiffy up the front a bit but worried that being aftermarket maybe they don't work correctly..
Have another question too..When I bought it, both of the DRL's were burned out so I pulled one and went to looking for one..The bulb and the owners manual say 3157KX, but can't find those anywhere..I bought a standard set of 3157's and they work and are pretty bright..Do you have to get the KX's at the dealer and are they that different??

Also can you program the fog lights to stay on all the time (when the headlights are on) so you don't have to push the darn button every time you get in the truck to drive?
Thanks so much everyone!!!
John

i have the e-bay projectors...they look great but dont work too good. they just dont put out enough light to compare to factory projectors. I have the black ones, im not sure if that has something to do with it. my theroy is that the chrome ones might reflect light a little better because of the chrome bezzel around the lense.

Thanks!

THis may come up twice, hit enter by accident!
Thanks Nigel..
I was afraid they may not be as bright and being we live out in the country it may not be safe. I doubt the chrome ones would be different as being projector, they are supposed to project the light past the bezel..Are those Altezza tail lights? Do you like those? I think they look cool..I like the ones that have the three seperate round "pods" with the darker back ground..Our truck has one that is cracked and out here won't pass inspection and those appear to cost for a set probably less than one new factory one..Plus the one on the other side is a bit hazy..Those guys sure screw you on the shipping though..25 bucks?? Man!!!! I sell a lot on ebay and that would be a pretty heavy box for ground shipping...
Thanks and nice truck BTW.....

John, You might want to do the "4 headlight mod." It's real easy to do, and it helps alot if you're out in total darkness. Here's the link: http://chevytruckworld.tenmagazines....70-album-12221

That's cool!

Thanks for the links..Looks like an easy mod..Never understood why GM did that..I had an 87 Buick Century that had those wierd little tiny sealed beam headlights and it did the same thing (lowbeams turn off at high beam)
Bet this mod would really help out in the county but I would hate to be the oncoming guy if you forget to turn em off...

Thanks for the help guys..So far we love the truck..It's definately a "Cowboy's Cadillac" with those leather seats..And love all the power...

Re: Anyone use the projector headlights sold on EBAY?

They do sell other brands of projectors at places like Stylin Concepts....but they are like $275 i think. I would think that at that price they might work a little better. The only downside is that they are not completly clear cornered, i think theirs a yellow pice on thet corner marker. I live in the city so the bad lighting dosent bother me that much.

The tail lights i love, they have a smoked chrome finish, so they kinda blend right into the truck.i did get them off e-bay as well. On all of my bumper lights I have hyper white LED's...corner, turn signal and drl's, they look awesome especially with the halo rings on the projectors and the black backgrounds. just do an e-bay search for 3157 white led's if your interested.

As soon as I saw the switch that came from the factory when I bought my Factory Foggers I knew that I wasn't going to like it. So, I kept the Factory Cargo/Fogger light switch assembly and modded the other one I had. The stock one on my truck has just the Cargo light switch there and nothing below it. I Drilled out a hole in the plastic and put a very nice, clean looking switch. then wired it up so that the Fog lights stay on in whatever position I left it last. Because of the nature of Chevy's factory Fog light switch I don't believe that the BCM can be changed so that the foggers stay on in whatever mode you left them in last.

That's why I wired mine seperately with a switched DC source. Sorry it doesn't help but, it may inspire you to go to the junkyard and find yourself a switch that was like my stock one. Then you could do the same....

Just thought I'd throw it in...

Re: Anyone use the projector headlights sold on EBAY?

John,

I have the black projectors with HID Xenon and am still not close to stock lens strength. I live in Round Rock. If you want to see what they look like come to the car show on 1431 & Parmer on Saturday night and I will show you. Email me to let me know if you are going. I could also show you what a set of carbon tail lights look like that I got of ebay.

Enjoy the toy, they are fun to own when they look good!
