Question "What happened to the Beal thread?"

You may be asking yourself this right now, if you are one of the people who was fortunate enough to have seen it earlier.

Unfortunately due to several negative comments from various users, even after the original poster asked people not to make them, Will eventually chose to simply delete the thread and also mentioned that he doubts he will come back to share anything more here given the reaction he received in that thread.

That's just great... We do just about everything we can to try and represent this as the best forum on the web for the McLaren F1 and try to make it a welcoming environment for everyone, including actual owners if they so choose. With the reaction Will's thread got I'm really not surprised he chose to end it and walk away.

I think some people need to be reminded (including myself at times) that we don't own these cars. If an owner chooses to do something with their F1 that we might consider foolish, it might be wise to keep those comments to yourself, or at least be a little more tactful if you decide you can't resist sharing them. Honestly, who cares if the car gets painted Ferrari red if that is what Mr Beal wants? And who cares if the shop it's in is not as pristine as McLaren's own servicing facility? Who cares if the guys working on the car aren't wearing lab coats and white gloves when they are within 5 feet of the car. Obviously Mr. Beal trusts the people working on his F1 to do an adequate job and produce the results he is looking for, so why should it matter if you think otherwise? Why go to great lengths to expand on those opinions when the member of the forum who has come here to share with us asks people politely not to?

To say that I am disappointed over this situation is an understatement. It so rare that we get opportunities to get first hand, up to the minute info on any McLarens that I can't believe people would go out of their way to run someone off who has come here to contribute to our cause through nothing other than his own good will.

For those who participated in that thread, and said some things that maybe you shouldn't have, you might want to post an apology here or send a note on to Will so he doesn't leave here with such a low opinion of this place. Maybe next time people will keep my comments in mind prior to hitting submit.
