92 sunbird stalling

i have a 92 sunbird with a 3.1L v-6 and an automatic trans. it sputters and stalls when i start slowing down after i have been driving it for long periods of time. it will stay running and run good if i shift it down manully. any suggestiosn would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the torque converter clutch is not disingaging the torque converter. Unplug the plug on top of the transmission and see if the problem goes away. If it does, simply run with it unplugged or you can buy and replace the solenoid for about $50.
