Tranny

Hey guys, i know i havent been on for a while but ive been having tanny problems. I'm not slipping or noticing the tranny jumping out of gear but it does make this clanking sound when i shift up and downshift. I rev match when i down shift so i dont think it could be the sudden change in Revs. The sound also occurs when in gear. When i let off ... lets say in third gear , i hear a clank when the car engine breaks. This noise has been getting worse and you can feel the vibrations in the car when it happens? any one know what might be broken or have a similar problem?

Re: Tranny

I had bad grinding of my gears and troubles getting it in gears, but it was because the IDIOTS that owned it before me put automatic tranny fluid in it :-( And it slowly fucked it up. If you havent owned the car long you might check it, to prevent further wear and tear.

Re: Tranny

toyota manual says to use auto fluid.... that wouldn't have caused it.

my box is apart at the moment. it's had metal go through the oil pump so i got a new impeller but i'm guessing it was a 2nd gear synchro ring that broke up earlier in the cars life. the rings in mine were all pretty new looking but the 2nd gear syncro gears were badly worn. The Auto fluid is MEANT to be there... but try and work out it there's anything loose kicking round in there....

Re: Re: Tranny

Humm...I called toyota and they told me that my 91 used 75-90w. So did multiple auto parts places. So no mine wasnt supposed to have the ATF in it. Maybe in the later models but not in mine.
