17 inch rims/speedometer

i put some 17s on my car and i was wondering if this would effect my speedo.?i ran more 0-60 runs and they were slower than b4. b4 i put them on i was running 9.8-10.2 in 0-60 and after the wheels were put on i ran a 11.1. can putting on bigger rims make it slower or is it just the speedo.?

they rims might be a problem....because the bigger the rims the longer it takes the wheel to rotate around.. but correct me if im wrong.

ya its probably the speedo

i know that getting larger rims, will throw the speedo off depending on the size change, its just an adjustmnet that needs to be made, your not going slower, the guage is just reading wrong

Re: 17 inch rims/speedometer

what size tires do you have on, if you have 45's or 40's it wont change ur speedo, but yes bigger rims/tires effects your launches, its kinda like the idea behind a lighter flywheel or underdrive crank pully, its harder to turn bigger heavy rims than it is to urn light 13's like ur steelies

Re: 17 inch rims/speedometer

i think theyr 45 that kinda sucks though i feel like i have to choose between looks and performance. maybe ill try to get a little bit smaller tires next time and that might help.

Re: 17 inch rims/speedometer

probably, look for a rim tire converter theres a few ones online that can see how close to stock that combo would be, and 45's with 17's should be the exact same size as mine, and you really shouldnt be noticing a loss in power, mabe you did something bad at the same time....
