Re: compression checker

speaking of mazdatrix i would like to vent a little.

dealers say "oh u need this part? we dont know wtf it is, is this it?" and the give you some random shit thats not close to what you want even though you give them part numbers and tell them what it looks like.
once they find it they say okay we found it now bend over and spread your cheeks you owe us $5000 for this part that you could get in a junkyard for 600.

mazdatrix is like okay we got all the parts and we're not assholes like the dealer but we'll still ask you to spread your cheeks to pay $2500 for this part you could find in the junkyard for 600.

damn.

Re: compression checker

yea mazdatrix can be kind of a rip off sometimes

but the reason I ask is because I found an S4 TII in a junkyard with a decent body, door won't close cause the latch or something is broken, interior is pretty nasty, the guy says it runs but I'm not even sure yet... anyways I want to check the compression before I even think about picking it up, even though I'd just end up selling it anyway.

Re: compression checker

You could do the poor mans test and just check for 3 pulses on each rotor when you crank over using your hand. Otherwise a normal compression tester works you just have to remove the check valve.

the valve (if there is one) is gonna be in the flexible tubing that comes with the tester, on the 'spark plug' end. You have to remove it if there's one with a valve stem remove or a small plier. It looks like a tire valve stem.
