92 Bonnebille EGR Valve?

We have a 92 Bonnevile, with the 3800 engine, SE model, non supercharged, and I just cannot find the EGR valve. Even the PCV valve is hidden under a cover.
I have taken it to a dealer, and they cannot find it either. The only news I got out of a technician, is that he thinks in those years, that the egr valve is some sort of way hidden in engine. I cant take that for an answer because it just does not sound right.

Does anyone have any clues to where the EGR valve is located on my engine? I am curious to where it is located. The original owner told me they did absolutely nothing as far as any modifications to the engine. It is completely stock.

Joe

Welcome to EGRless land.

In 1992 the L27 motor did NOT have an EGR valve since...well not many cars that big get 31mpg on the highway...

Actually the motor ran clean enough and was efficent enough that an EGR valve was not needed to pass emmisions testing.

Note: since they did not use an EGR valve you may have other issues with burned exhaust valves but there are MANY 1992 bonenvilles/olds/buicks that have made it over 300K without any problems on orginal engine and trans.

In 1993 GM realized the problems and put the valve back on.

Hansnet, thanks for the information, very helpful and interesting. Our Bonnie has 112,000 mile on her right now, and it still runs excellent. I keep the maintenance on it every 2,000 miles instead of the normal 3k.

I do like your set up with the air filter system. Does that give you better gas milege and power?

Thanks Joe

Re: 92 Bonnebille EGR Valve?

I know this is a really old post, but I am having a huge problem finding the sequence and torque to use on the two metal pieces of the intake. My car is a Lesabre but has a Pontiac EGR-less L27. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
