I assume from your post that it was damaged in an accident of some sort? I sure hope that everyone is ok - I know the F1 is a safe car, but it is also capable of some incredible speeds. Please share whatever details you can. That's truly unfortunate. ![]() Also, I don't recall hearing that this car has ever been wrecked before. It did have that little transmission problem though. >8^) ER |

Re: Re: Beal's F1
That shop looks like it's dirty and unorganized. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want what looks like people at a "hole in the wall" shop painting my million dollar car. With all the money has why wouldn't he return it to England to have McLaren's paint contractor do the job? Although then again, he did have transmission work done at non-McLaren certified shop, so I guess going to Joe Blow's Redneck paint shop isn't out of the question.
As for a McLaren wearing Ferrari red? Yuck. I think I'd prefer the much overused silver color instead of the enemy's war paint. BTW, why are the pictures of the McLaren titled as being "Enzo 002.jpg" etc? |

Re: Beal's F1
Yeah, bright red just doesn't seem right on the McLaren. Why do you need to match an ugly Enzo? Let each car express its own unique personality. The new Ferraris are always in your face and come in screaming yellow and red for the most part. McLarens...ought to be far more classy. Or unique, as in the papaya orange. Their phenomenal reputation and performance precedes them. No need to be vulgar.
I like the blue ones the best. |

I think my F1 would most likely be green, like chassis #051 or XP5.
To each their own I say. I'm not personally a fan of the color red, but I think that Cliff Meltzers red #028 looks fairly stunning in that color. Maybe it's just that red is such a unique color on the F1 that it makes it look so nice. Thanks for the info and photos Will. I do hope you'll be back with some new ones when the car is completed. >8^) ER |

Enzo red? I think he has it backward and should be painting his Enzo.. McLaren silver.
Oh well. It's his car... and he has every right to paint it whatever color he wants including eggplant purple. Given the opportunity, it would be dark silver. Sometimes these joe blow shops will produce glass paint jobs that will out do most factory paints. I've seen some airline mechanics who've done paintwork on the side as a hobby. These guys take pride in their work and are out to prove that they have concours painting ability. |

But you're saying that McLaren themselves couldn't properly rebuild the transmission? As for the shop: I see respirators, paint stains, air compressors, and cans in the background. It's obvious paintin has gone on there before. But I believe you that the painting will be done in a proper clean-fume room. Quote:
