Door Lock Replacement

I purchased a 91 Honda Civic LX with 187,000 miles on it. The driver side door lock is very ruff when I turn the key to unlock or lock the door.

Is there a way to replace the door lock without replacing the whole door?

Re: Door Lock Replacement

take your door panel off, roll the window up, and look at the backside of the door handle. theres a rod that attaches to the lock, and a small c-clip that holds the lock cylinder in. if you take both of those off the cylinder will come out.

maybe try lubricating the cylinder first with some spray, because you will need a locksmith to change the tumblers inside the new cylinder if you decide to put a new one in.

remove the locks permanently. Replace your door handles with rear-door handles from a sedan, remove the lock rods... get a keyless entry alarm.

Re: Door Lock Replacement

I used W-D40 and uvula, the lock wasn't ruff anymore. Good thing too, sounds like replacing the lock is a more complex job than I thought.

Thanks...
