ford ranger temperature control

i have a 98 ranger with 3.0 engine ----the a/c cools in the max air position, but in any other setting, it delivers very hot air----so it is very cold or very hot------i replaced the temperature selector switch, the center knob with the blue on one side and red on the other, but it didnt change anything----i read somewhere that the next option would be to check the blend door actuator, whatever that is-----how deeply is it buried and what does it cost? --oh, fuse #10 is ok---any thoughts would be appreciated-----gary

After a search to troubleshhoot a problem with my Ford Ranger, I found this site. I realize that this is a very old post, but I am having the same exact problem with my '98 Ford Ranger 4.0. Can you tell me what the ultimate fix was and how much it cost you? Thanks!
