Skid Plates

Anyone ever paint their skid plates? I have been thinking about doing this to the front and gas tank skid plates.

My questions are:
Can this be done?

What kind of prep needs to be done?

What king of paint would be the best?

Anything I am forgetting?

If you are doing this for looks, you might want to consider taking them off, having them sandblasted and electro-powder coated.

I would use POR 15 if you want to paint the skid plates.

Its great against rust and goes on nice and thick so it shouldnt chip off easily.
