installing a shift light
friend wants to know how to put in a shift light and i would like to know exacts on what to do and how and such

look up "pills". they switch on at a certain rpm (whatever rpm you want). i think autometer or msd makes them. theres probly some on ebay

It's simple, you need either an Autometer pill type or built in adjustable light. I think the built in type are the way to go. There are some small LED type that are kinda cool, similar to F1 or WRC.
Red wire is power, hook up to a switched power supply. Black wire grounds to metal Green wire is the RPM signal wire. That needs to be hooked to the tach wire in the car or with a MSD box you can plug it into tach output for more accurate readings. Should be simple after you look at this site - http://www.westworld.com/~joe_r/tach/tachinst.html If there is no stock tach the wire is still behind the gauge cluster. Quote:
