Exclamation Front Windshield Washer

Hey Everyone,
I have a 98 Blazer. Everything works, except the front wiper MISTER. The blades move but I don't hear the pump going. Can someone give me the diagnosis possibilities. THANKS!

Do you hear the motor running when you press the "washer button" on the turn signal stalk? If so, check for obstructions in the lines, see if the pump picked up garbage from inside the reservoir, and so on. If you don't hear the motor run, then pop the wire off the washer fluid pump, connect a test light/volt meter to the power wire for the pump, have someone hit the switch and see if you have power to it. If you do, then the pumps fried. If not, check fuses, etc.

Sorry for the double post - crappy Internet connection today. Wanted to revise my first one since I noticed that he said he couldn't hear the pump running....

Re: Front Windshield Washer

The mist feature does not engage the washer fluid.

It is a setting for one single wipe to remove and mist on the windsheild.

True - that's what I was thinking. Maybe he meant the washer function instead of mist. Turning the knob down to mist for a second is supposed to make the wipers go once. Pushing back the tab for the washer is supposed to make them go a few times after you let go (like 3-6 times) and fluid is supposed to spray out until you let it go.

A lot of people misinterpret the mist function to mist the windshield with washer fluid when it is not supposed to do that.

I assumed that he meant the washer function. That's what I get for assuming.
