fuel cut???
I have a 93 talon tsi awd, and my car is getting fuel cut at 15 psi, i've already removed the lower portion of the maf honey comb, and the silencer. With the boost set at 14 psi the car is fine, but at 15 psi the car begins to stumble very badly and the motor just chokes. My question is, why am I still getting fuel cut after I have already removed the lower portion of the maf honey comb, I thought that was suppose to be a cheap way to solve fuel cut...

Re: fuel cut???
I don't know alot about 1st gens but you should just do the right upgrades so you don't have this prob. 15 psi is all your fuel sys can take anyway.

Re: fuel cut???
try rewiring your fuel pump www.vfaq.com

The amount of fuel has nothing to do with fuel cut. Therefore, rewiring the FP will do nothing for fuel cut. The ECU will cut fuel when a predetermined airflow is reached.

Re: fuel cut???
to help tune when you get bigger enjectors and fuel pump.

ecu has air/fuel maps. once their peak is reached the computer cuts fuel. fuel cut is also a saftey device incase your wastegate gets stuck. the only way around it will be an MAF interseptor.

Yes, the SAFC will help prevent fuel cut. When you install larger injectors, you need to compensate for the increased fuel delivery the the ECU isn't aware of. To do this you lower the airflow the ECU "sees" and thereby less fuel is injected. This helps in two ways. It allows you to run larger injectors and helps to prevent fuel cut.

Re: fuel cut???
The only way to truly eliminate fuel cut is DSMlink or a TMO or DSMchips chip. Everything else just pushes it off to a higher airflow point (actual), hopefully far enough that you dont hit it. Removing the MAF honeycomb will have a small impact on air metering.
At any rate, what you are describing doesnt sound like fuel cut anyway. Stuble badly and motor choking sounds like something else, ignition or boostleak. COuld be wrong though. But true fuel cut (not to be confused with "internet fuel cut") is almost universally described as almost eating the steering wheel in one massive loss of power. Stumbling, stuttering, and other such symptoms, are something else. Perhaps you can provide some clarification, so we can be sure we are providing solutions to a problem you actually have.

Re: fuel cut???
This thread is a month old just brought it back because i had a question about fuel cut. But Kevin, unfortunately i cant afford dsmlink, but is there any other solutions to eliminating fuel cut. I was reading on vfaq that you can somehow trick the ecu into thinking less air is coming in or something like that. Im at work so i cant really get the link right now.

Re: fuel cut???
All that airflow stuff (read: bigger injectors and an AFC or similar) just pushes it off, it doesnt eliminate it. The other way besides DSMlink that I mentioned is a chip (www.dsmchips.com). But it still requires an EPROM ECU. The nice thing is you could pick up the chip for ~100 bucks or whatever jeff is asking these days, and easily go to DSMlink at a later date and sell the chip. The problem I have is chip plus AFC plus injectors plus logger = same price as DSMlink. Do whatever seems best in your case, just be sure you are thinking ahead and making an educated decision
I regret many of my purchases and incremental upgrades. DSMlink is not one of them. I would do DSMlink in a heartbeat, it would be my first mod on any DSM I buy. Can't wait for EVOlink to come out too... Good luck.
