electric supercharger

hello, I found a 2.1 PSI electrical supercharger on ebay and it says that it really works and can be turned on by a switch. I read the comments in the feedback and majortiy of the people said it worked. Take a look at it and tell me what you think, its only $170 bucks shipped - so its pretty cheap if it will really add 10-15 HP. Heres the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Re: electric supercharger

Does it work, sure, it moves air. Does it improve performance, not in the least. The amount of extra air it can flow is about the same as how much air it blocks by being the the way of your otherwise clear intake. Don't waste your money, these things are for idiots.

For example, disconnect your air intake lines, then stick your hand in front of the Throttle Body as someone revs the engine a bit. It sucks in plenty of air on its own, more than that POS fan can blow out, for sure.

If you want to blow your money to gain horsepower, just buy an actual air intake, it'll flow better and you'll see actual, albeit small, results. At least companies like AEM have actual dyno sheets to back up their claims, and you'll never find one with crap like that.

(On an amusing note, there is such a thing as an electric supercharger that actually does work. Then again, this thing runs off of massive electrical cells stored in the back of the car and is capable of being run for about 10 seconds or so before exhausting the power cells. In that time, it'll push upwards of 30PSI. This isn't, however, a cheap thing to have and is only for built motors. Novel idea to look into, however)

Re: electric supercharger

your engine is like a vacuum when its running. It sucks in alot of air. That supercharger can make 2.1 PSI when its not on an engine. But when its on an engine it will actually restrict air flow.
