Re: ac charge

i would just take it to a shop and have it done correctly. cars use different adaptors for their systems plus you'd have to get a kit to transfer it and it could end up costing you a fortune by the time you're done and still not have it done right. go to a respectable shop and they should be able to do it for you.

Plus, I will personally kick you in the balls w/my steel toes if you deplete your freone into the ozone. The ozone layer is screwed up enough as it is.

It's not nice to call people faggots, now.

Your air conditioning system is under pressure. Many people take the AC out of the car. On tuners there was a thread with everyone agreeing that the best way to relieve pressure was to rip off a line and just let the "jizz" spray out. That's dumb, though. There's a schrader valve on the right hand side of the engine bay with a screw-on cap. They sell systems that screw onto the valve and press the actuator to collect all your old r134 or pump it up. If you don't mind venting the stuff to the atmosphere you can take a flathead to the valve and press down on the actuator. Like a bike tire. That doesn't solve the problem of pressurizing the system though, which requires another run to NAPA or a shop. Basically, it's more cost effective to have a shop do it. And they won't charge you anything to collect your old r134 either, so better to save money and be environmentally conscious.

The ozone is important, and skin cancer is bad. The old AC was r12 I think, which was bad times freon. r134 was phased in during the early 90's because of the Montreal Protocol. It's a different mix that's less hazardous to the ozone. Doesn't cool as well, though, and leaks easier. That's what dsm's would have, I think/hope.

I was the one to call you a loser. gthompson97 was suggesting that you need a vacation.

I am by no means a "tree hugger", but my line of work gives me an unique understanding of chemical interactions with the environment. I didn't think it was necessary to postwhore the comment:

So, if all I called you was a loser, you got off easy.

There have been problems with you in the past (mainly with your signature). So my advice is to shape up, or go back to the dodge forum.

Having a '91 means that your system is r12. The EPA placed a ban on the manufacture of r12. Unless you can find a shop that still has some purchased prior to the EPA ban you are out of luck. You will have to have the AC converted from the r12 system.
