Owned by a stock looking 1991 LX Stang
I was in a race at the track last Friday with a 91 LX stang that looked bone stock except for the exhaust. The car skirted the 1/4 in 12.33 @ 113 MPH naturally aspirated and still had all power accessories and A/C in top working order. The only thing that signaled it was fast was the 4 point roll bar that still left the back seat and hatch usable and the flowmaster exhaust. We lined up at the lights I had a great reaction time of 1.94 which did not even beat him off the line. By the time I had hit second he was pulling hard on me and then all of sudden he was 5-6 car lengths ahead of me and then he was way out in front. The lights tripped at 12:33 for him and 14:11 for me... So yeah I got smoked...
I talked to th owner after the race and he popped his hood and everything looked stock including the air silencer. I asked how did you get those times, you running NOS, he said no I have a lot of work done. But it is mostly internal so I can keep my sleeper look. He told me he dynoed at 318 RWHP and had the dyno sheet in his glove box to prove it. Needless to say it impressed the hell out of me. He had decided to build a sleeper to suprise those dumbass ricers, his words not mine. This is what he told he had done to the motor which I am sure there is more than he said, he just wasn't going to share all. 318rwhp, and is trapping 113mph? ---Him
352rwhp, and traps 110---Me There's gotta be something else, are you SURE he wasn't spraying? I know lx's weight a little less than GT's but shit...that's pretty damn good. Also how big were his nittos and what were his 60' times like?

I thought LXs were 4 cylinder mustangs. Guess I learn something new everyday. He may have had some really high compression pistons, 12:1.

Re: Owned by a stock looking 1991 LX Stang
You could order LX's with 5.0's and yes they would be faster than a GT because of the slightly lower weight.
1.8's (rounded) in 60' is awesome for a street tired car, he obviously did some suspension mods of some type to get it to hook up that good, and he knows how to launch and drive it and with a short time like that. |

Re: Owned by a stock looking 1991 LX Stang
Um...flowmaster exhaust signaled it was fast? Your "great" reaction time was 1.9? I hope you meant 60'.

Flowmasters should come stock on mustangs, it'd save 95% of the population the trouble of having to put them on as aftermarket parts :P

Sounds like it was one bad @$$ stang. So '93, when are you gonna start doing some stuff like that to your 5.0?
