Also check your injectors. They should be spraying a fine cone... If they are dribbling at all they should be replaced. As said above, do a tune up. Since you're getting such bad miledge do the following

Cap
rotor
plugs
wires
02 sensor(s)
pcv valve
air filter (good time for a k&n)
Fuel filter
LOF (Lube, oil, filter)
Check tire pressure
Grease all chassi points
If you can, differential and transmission fluid change...

Take care of your car and your car will take care of you!

Dont forget to check your timing and reset the ecm after any electrical/sensor related changes.

Remove the timing wire from the PCM and set the timing to zero with a timing gun.

Then reattach the timing wire, reset the ecm by pulling the negative cable for ten minutes and see if it helps.

you wont get better than 16 probly even after everythin is placed. Those TBI are junk. I have one in my fullsize.

how many miles are on it? Then we can decide if you can get 19... or 15... or less...lol

Since when are TBI's junk. They are one of the most dependable fuel injection setups around.

junk!??? BULLS**T!! cant call it junk because of your gas mileage. having a truck that is not being taken care OF will turn to junk. how many miles are on your truck, drag it? how many times have you put off doing preventive maintainance? thats how vehicles turn to junk.

My truck has 150000 miles on it and I have not checked the timing yet I will do it this weekend. I work with the guy that owned it before me and he said that it was getting 16 to 18mpg city and one day it started to run a little rough and the gas mileage dropped. I have since bought it from him and put in in the shop and they put a new tps sensor on it and it ran a lot better but the gas mileage has not went up. Mark
