Cant get carb off
OK... really dumb question, but how do you get the carb off of an 84' s10? I can't get in there with any sized wrench or socket or even with the tool specially designed for this problem. The carb absolutely blocks the bolts from top to bottom and from 3 sides.
This is driving me mad because I neeeeed to get the carb off to rebuild it, but it makes me want to put a bat to the head that thought of this shit up.

Re: Cant get carb off
if youre going to rebuild it anyway, take it off in pieces.
after you take the bowl off you should be able to get to the mounting bolts easy. if not have you tried a swivil? |

Re: Cant get carb off
You have to remove all hoses, connectors, and the throttle return and accelerator linkage, and if it is an automatic, the shift cable. Also, as rlith said, crowsfoot wrenches are handy for this procedure.

Re: Cant get carb off
If it's the 2.8L it's a really tight fit.
What I did was use a 1/4" drive flex shaft extension on my rachet, with a short socket. It worked nicely I also found it easier stand on a 1' high bench and to remove the egr valve. I don't think that you'd have the room for a crowfoot wrench in there, but since I don't own any I really can't say that I tried |
