Re: problem with roof on 1989 lebaron convertable
It is your motor overheating. It is much easier to lower the top than to raise it back up. To get the top back up in an emergency do this: Get someone to push the up button while you stand in the back seat and forceably pull the top back up.
To fix the problem, either be prepared to spend no less than $800 on a new hydraulic system, or remove the hydraulics completely and go full manual. I removed my system. |

I had the same problem with my 1992 LeBaron. First check your ground wire to be certain you have a good ground. If that doesn't solve your problem (it didn't solve mine) I bought a rebuilt top motor from a contact I met on E bay. His e mail is [email protected]. He charged me $75.00 for the rebuilt motor and $ 10.00 shipping. I sent my out ona a Friday and had the rebuilt back the following Wedensday. I just finished installing the motor and the top works fine. It takes less than an hour to get the old motor out and about the same amount of time to put the new one in. Hope this helps. Good luck |

Try making sure the valve is fully closed. The valve is located in the trunk. If this does not help I have a used motor and lifts that I can sell you.
