Question Can I Bypass The PS Pulley..?

I have a 95 4.6 v8..and i'm gonna be changing my belt with a goodyear gatorback. Now, since my power steering pump is shot.....ie..power man competition turning my wheel...can i just get/find a smaller belt and forget the steering pulley..?

Is anything else running off that pulley though..? On the sticker under the hood it says its the ps pump...it doesn't say anything else. ALSO, what problems will arise if i did that..? Wouldn't it cause LESS restriction on my other accesories like a/c, alt etc...and everything else would work better....? See, right now, the ps pump causes some restriction...which makes my rpms drop below 500 briefly when in reverse...so i figure if i can just MINUS out the ps pump, why not...especially since the pump is shot anyway.

They shall rise again
Though lovers be lost love shall not
And death shall have no dominion.....

Re: Can I Bypass The PS Pulley..?

Why not do it right the first time - replace the belt and the pump at the same time.
