Can someone tell me what that noise is that comes from the driver side rear wheel in my 02' Denali everytime I start the truck?? It sounds like a pump or something, it seems to go for about 6-8 seconds.
thanks |

It's a good chance that it is your Auto-ride suspension pkg. I don't know for sure that the Denali had this option, but I've seen it on a late-model Tahoe.
If not that, probably some sort of fuel pump. |

Re: What's that noise
Either the ABS system doing its system self-check, or the rear load-leveling system (air compressor) doing its thing. Mine makes a similar noise shortly after startup (it's an '04 though--dunno if that makes a difference since GM added/removed/changed some features on the NBS SUVs starting in '03).

it sounds like there may be a problem with the load leveling compressor and also it could be the autoride. all denalis come standerd with this just to get that out of the way

Might be the fuel pump.
