Just bought a used (17000 miles) 2005 focus zx4 S and only got one key. Can i get copies from a hardware type key maker or only a dealer? And what is the procedure for programming a new key? Do i need two keys to make a third ( like a neighbor says)?

Re: '05 focus programming new keys
I think that the delear has to do it only because of the ID numbers and the chip inside of the key.

If it's like my '03 Focus, you need 2 keys in order to program any additional. I'm in the same situation (bought car and only got 1 key). The key itself is only like $20, but programming is like $40. Fortunately, once you have 2 keys you can program your own for only the cost of the key.
