Question Just bought it new on site need help

I have a 95 astro awd w/ 123000 miles I am getting new oil lines and a idler arm what is both for and there is a a hissing sound from my fuel pump and the car rattles after the hissing for a second my friends says the engine is just reading the fuel pump but now there is a humming sound while I am driving it happens after I take off its not loud but please could somebody tell me the story of all this I bought it for 1500 cheap I hope I didn't buy a lemon for that cheap price everybody says I got a good deal

I guess you got it cheap for a reason, BUT they may not be major bad reasons. I would start by changing the fuel filter, and going throught it and doing the needed maint, plugs, egr, air filt.... even if who you got it from said they did it.

The fuel pump does make noise, with everything off in the van turn the ignition on, but not start, you can hear the pump run. start the van, then shut it off, again you will hear the pump for a few seconds.

I would CHANGE THE FUEL FILTER FOR SURE, anyway. These fuel pumps are a pain to change. And don't use cheap filters, if not GM, then another big name brand.
