Re: coil pack

I'm having an idle/stalling problem with my 95 Eclipse and what I was told is that if their is spark on all four, the coil is fine. But that if the altenator is bad or weak, the spark will be weak. I'm down to my last few options before replacing eveything again.

Re: coil pack

To answer the question, there are some tests you can do with a voltmeter. Most repair manuals should have the procedure. The factory manual definitely does.

I know that on my car there is a plug connection that supplies the coil pack with the power that it needs. The plug has 3 prongs in it
--------
( [1] [2] )
( [3] )
-------
If you test 1 and 3 then there for cylinders 2 and 3, test 2 and 3 and there for cylinders 1 and 4. My book says this and I'm quoting it "Compare reading to the desired primary coil resistance of 0.70-0.86 ohms. Measure the coil secondary resistance as follows Measurethe resistance between the high-voltage terminals for the No.1 and No.2 cylinders, and between the high-voltage terminals for the No. 2 and No.3 cylinders. The desired secondary coil resistance of 11.3-15.3 kilo-ohms. If the readings are not within the specified value, replace the ignition coil."

I don't know if this helps at all because the years are different between our vehicles so thats all I can really help you with. I looked at my manuel but it doesn't support the year of your car. Good luck and get a Repair manuel, I suggest the Chilton's Repair Manuel thats the repair manuel I got that info from.
