my rodeo had a slight tick when i bought it with 90 K on it aroung 110 K
while going down the freeway about 70 mph it started to sound like a slegde hamer pounding on the passanger side (Right Bank) valve cover not knowing any thing about cars i found this forum and thought it might be the timing belt tensioner so i tore into it and replaced it it did not fix the prob so i took apart the top end (pain in my ass) i didnt see any thing wrong so i took off the head to see if i had bent a valve it looked fine then i took the camshaft off to inspect it and found the hydraulic valve lash adjuster was shoved up into the rocker arm on 2 intake and 1 exhast rocker replaced at $70 a pop belive it or not the delear was the cheepest put it all back together and started right up the knock was gone on the passanger side (Right Bank) allowing me to hear the knock on the driver side (Left Bank) so now im going to tear it down for the 4th time and hope its not more then 3 also i'v been told that you can rebuild the hydraulic valve lash adjuster but it's a major pain in the ass ill let you all know how the other side goes ps i do interior mods on the poor man's budget and it looks professional ill be posting some walkthroughs on topend engine repair and how to's on mods. |

siezed engine
this moring i was warming her up to check it out and the tick came back
so i drove it around the block trying to get some oil up into the rocker arms and it sounded like marbles clunk clank thump and it stoped i had to have it towed back i read a posting about a spun #1 bearing i don't know if im going to fix this motor or burn the f***ing thing it have put 1,500 + into the motor and about 500 into customizeing the interior just to open it cost gaskets at 20 a pice this will be the 5th time if i choose to embark on this endevor isuzu can take this engine and shove it i might swap with a motor / tranny/ wireing harness / pcm from a toyota or honda at least there not affilated with G.M. for educational porposes i may post step by step high res color photos on the tear down /rebuild ?????? {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{ATTENTION}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} }}}}}}}}}} To all isuzu owners if you hear a slight tick in your motor check the oil and then use one of the remadies found on this site ATF oil additives use conventional oil after engine flush light weight oil if it is knocking remove timing covers if it is still knocking its rocker arms / spung bearing basicaly time for a new motor dont waste mony like my unless you have a machine shop and engine hoist and stand |

Did the noise almost make the engine sound like a loud diesel?
My '94 3.3 V6 Rodeo is making a similar noise. Reading the posts, there is no real fix for the problem other than major engine surgury? |
