shifting question

Well, this is kind of a question. Two days ago, I was driving, and I was in 2nd, just about to shift into 3rd. Some dirt or dust or something flew in through my window cause I had it open and got in my eye. This happened like right as I was about to go into 3rd, and it distracted me. Mind you I'm still just learning manual. So instead of hitting 3rd, I went into 5th for a second. Now, it seems like it's hard to get into 3rd from 2nd when driving. Did I mess something up, or is it just me still learning? It wasn't hard to get into 3rd before this happened.
Thanks

Re: shifting question

It shouldnt have messed anything up, its not great for the transmission from what Ive heard. Try working the gears when the cars off and and when its on, just hold the clutch in. Usually when its cold I have a hard time shifting but once I work the gears a bit its fine.

Re: shifting question

it should be fine.you can shift from any gear to any gear...your just supposed to match the rpm/speed to that gear in relation usually the only wear and tear you get is on your clutch not your tranny. make sure your putting your foot all the way down, and dont drag the clutch(slowly letting off) and youll get the hang of it soon

that was absolutley 100% pointless

anyways,

it shouldn't have done anything to the transmission unless you ground the shit out of the gears while trying to shift and it just accidentally fell into 5th...but if it went into 5th easily then it shouldn't have had any effect on the tranny itself.

Ok, thanks guys. Ya, as I thought, it was just me lol. For some reason I wasn't hitting 3rd smoothly if that makes any sense.
