Talking Modeling techniques used on a real car!

I know this is a little bit off topic, but I feel it is somewhat relevant. Mods, feel free to delete this if I am out of line (I know you will if I am anyway )
So I decided to take the same technique that I use on my models, and use them on my 1:1 car. Some of you may remember that my technique involves using autmotive primers and laquers, usually Duplicolor. I usually color sand after about 4-6 coats of color, and follow them up with 6-8 coats of clear that is wet sanded, and then rubbed out with compound. I then polish with Zaino. I followed the same technique on my real car on two major body panels. I painted the two body panels, and the rest is the stock factory paint job. I`ll let everyone try to guess which two panels I painted. The painted panels now look better then the rest of the car. Also, keep in mind that this is a very limited production car (it is number 31 of only 500 made) and is in almost new condition, so my hand was a little shaky while spraying. Several times I thought to myself "what the *$#% am I doing?!?!?".
I`ll post a pic of my 1/12 Monogram Corvette that I painted using the exact same technique at the end of this post.

You got one of them! The rear bumper was repainted. What made you guess that?

No, but after looking at the pictures again, it looks like the drivers door is a slightly different shade than the rear fender. Not sure why that is. I never noticed that before.

Nope. I guess these pics arent the best. But really, if you are standing right up next to it, it is hard to tell which parts have been painted.

Re: Modeling techniques used on a real car!

the bumper in one of the pics appeared to be a different shade, just a little bit darker than the surrounding panels. but other than that one picture it is undetectable. awesome job

Re: Modeling techniques used on a real car!

Thanks for the complements guys!

Well, M4tt83 and white97ex guessed it! The right rear quarter and the rear bumper were painted. I also painted the plastic molding that goes along the middle of the door on each side. What made you guys guess those parts? What gave it away?

Re: Modeling techniques used on a real car!

Yea, I use my modeling techniques on my 1;1 car to. Infact, I prepped/primered my ENTIRE car using techniques I learned through models. I used Dupli-Color filler primer, and, as people say, prepping is everything. Well, if you click my link, the paint job looks almost professional. (BTW, it was done on my T-Bird..)

And, it looks like I'll have to do some body work on my Camaro. The ice over the winter cracked the fiberglass in the corner...
