steering wheel lock

I was just surfing around today when I came across this steering wheel lock. http://www.carryboy.com/3lock545.php

I already have an alarm, it was the first thing I got for the car when I first bought the car! I just want to make it as difficult as I possibly can for any A-hole thieves to jack my stuff. I like the fact that it’s permanently mounted to the car, you don’t have to mess with any doohickeys after you park @ night. What do you guys think about this thing? Is it horse shit or worth looking into?

Are you talking about the club? Sorry, but that’s kind of useless. What I like about this steering column lock is that it locks the steering wheel from under the dash. The thing is I've never seen it before & I’m looking for anyone who has.

Anyone else seen this before? Good or bad? I’m always looking for things that’ll help mess with thieves jacking my stuff, I want to go with LoJack but it costs an arm & a leg!

Re: steering wheel lock

Sorry NerveAgent but the autolock has its downfalls. Check out www.clubbuster.com
I have read that some people were able to slip the autolock right off the car. Dont know if they secured it wrong or what. Bascially no piece of equipment is 100% safe. Locksmith corporations are always coming up with tools to defeat security devices. Those tools were ment for legit purposes, like for reposesing a car. The bad thing is that theives buy those tools too.
I have heard bad things about Lojack too. I heard that people can carry signal jammers so that the cops cant track the car. Dont know if its true but it sounds plausible.
The best security is something that will draw attention to a car thief (car alarm) and something that will slow them down (steering wheel locks, shifter locks, brake locks, starter kill switch, fuel pump kill switch, loud sirens inside cab to disorient, large dogs inside car, actually locking the doors, whatever...) The harder a car is to steal, the more likely a thief will move onto a easier target. So layer your security. But remember, a tow truck beats all the security in the world, except a garage. Here's a good link for security options:

I dont know anything about the steering wheel lock you asked about but if it slows down the thief, it's prob worth it.

OMG! Your right, I can’t believe it! I did a Google search, & I won’t get into it here but it’s a big time problem in Hong Kong! Lo-Jack had to come out with a new system there because the thieves were jamming their frequencies! WOW, I guess life is one big chess game.

I’m still probably going to get Lo-Jack & forget this steering column lock. It’s a nifty idea thou, it mounts under the dash which I like. But which is better, tracking a tow truck stolen car with Lo-jack or adding an other layer of protection to a parked car with this steering column lock? I’m thinking Lo-Jack. Anyone else have any ideas?

Oh, TurboLaxx that’s a great link you posted. I’ll be getting around to doing a few of those things like adding a second siren, rerouting the hood cable, getting a backup battery for my alarm, and stuff like that!
