2001 Rodeo Electrical Problems

My problem started last night, harsh shifting with the tranny. I found your site and today I went out to check it and had no light for the tranny indicator. I pulled the mode indicator as instructed here and still no indicator light. Check the fuse that says it is for backup lights and turn signals, it was blown. Replaced it several times and it still blows. The turn signals work, the back up lights or transmission indicator light do not work. This fuse blows before I move the transmission indicator, so I don't think it is a short in the backup lights, but maybe something else on this circuit.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I'd start by isolating each component on that circuit. Start by pulling out the b/u light bulbs to see if that prevents the fuse from blowing. Electrical gremlins can be a bear to troubleshoot. Just take it one part at a time.
G/luck
