Re: grinding noise at 35mph
Are there any other details you can give? IE: Where is the noinse comming from? Is the A/C on/off? Is it happening in certian wheather conditions? and any thing else that you can tell us that may help to pin point the problem.

Yes deffinately more details would be great. Does your car shudder? Do you RPM's change?

Re: grinding noise at 35mph
Im not sure. It doesnt have anything to do with the AC. It sounds like it is coming from the breaks but the pads have been changed it might be the barrings

Re: grinding noise at 35mph
Does it occur when you break? - if so, it's the breaks, obviously.
A bearing sound would be more like a pulsating rumbling, that varied with different speeds. |

Re: grinding noise at 35mph
Did it make this grinding noise before the pads were replaced?

Quote:
Britty, it may be related to your rim / tire fit. Even on stock wheel setups, sometimes the rubber rubbing against the rim at certain speeds / frequencies can cause strange noises. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have a tire place take a look at it - they should be able to give you a verdict on what it is if it's tire related for free or very cheap. |

Re: grinding noise at 35mph
O no problem. Let us know how the tire place goes if you take it there. What else have you had go wrong?

Re: grinding noise at 35mph
Something else to have the tire place look at...Have them take look at the C/V joints and boots. Like Ridenour states sometimes things occur at certian times and then return to a "normal" position when not going that speed.
Another question I just thought of. Does the grinding noise only happen on the same road doing the 35 mph? What I'm getting at is this...As an example when I drive on the interstate going 75 mph, my RPM is about 3200 and that is pretty much the same for that speed all the time. Could the noise be related to the engine RPM? |

Re: grinding noise at 35mph
did you recently change tires, like a different tread pattern? Sometimes that creates a weird noise at certain speeds.

Re: grinding noise at 35mph
brittyb22,
Is the noise coming from outside the car? I ask because I had a 98 Montana that made a high pitched at 25 to 30 mph,ot turned out to be the speedometer, buy my noise went away after the van got warm. Just a thought. |
