places for Drifting

Does anyone know of any places to learn/practice/compete in drifting in Canada and more specifically ontario and quebec?

Also, what mods should one get for their car? I was thinking suspension, lsd, and some engine mods, anything else?

Re: places for Drifting

i don't have one yet i was just wondering for future reference. There aren't many tracks around where i live within a 2 hour drive, actually there is only one. the closest one i can think of other than that one is mosport, and that's like 3 or 4 hours.

Re: places for Drifting

cant really help you much without a car, but main thing is enough power and lsd, but it'll help if you have specific car type because some, like the 240sx most of the time will need the rb20 engine or you'll have a little trouble, you still could do it with the ka though.

Re: places for Drifting

whoa wait a second " you will need the rb20 or you'll have a little trouble" since when was a rb20 the engine of choice among drifters? and the ka can handle drifting just as good as anything else the only reason it is not used as much is because of the lack of aftermarket support which is on the rise greatly. but most people tend to use the sr20 not the rb20

Re: places for Drifting

oh i love the ka the next 240 i get im building the KA. and the reason i took it serious is because some people are actually using odd engine choices now to drift

Re: places for Drifting

the only thing i have to say about the SR....is if built right its bulletproof. the autobacs gt300 car uses one. not detracting from the ka...just gotta give the japanese engine mad props

Re: places for Drifting

well if the ka24 was used in the silvia, they'd use that too.

the main difference is that the sr is a factory turbo motor, so everyone loves it.

Re: places for Drifting

LSD is always a good way to learn how to use your FR.

as for locations... try to keep it on the tracks. But of course, some of us don't have that luxury nearby... so just do it at spacious areas w/o any people around..

also watch out for residential areas b/c if they hear you.. they will call and complain.... hence, cops will be on your ass in less than 10 minutes.

jus don't do anything stupid like... attempting a drift at an intersection.
