brake booster

my wife beetle had to have anew water pump ,thermostat we took it to the dealer had it fix she got the car back and it was making a noise when she pushed on the gas so she called the dealer and took it back they say the brake booster is bad(another$800.00) could a vacum line been pulled loose during water pump change any help appreciated...thanks timmyp... also I told them not to touch the car we would pick it up and take it some where else they we could not drive it off the lot with this vacum leak....

There is a vacuum line at the rear of the intake manifold for the brake booster (on a 2.0) thats a rubber vacuum hose connected to a plastic hose thats routed over to the brake booster. You dont have to take either off to do a w-pump or thermostat unless the intake manifold is removed whice was problably done if it was a beetle. They might have forgot to re-install the vacuum lines properly.???
