Window skips

I've read the threads on two f-body sites and all the problems I found were that the window would only move a little and then overload, then move a little and so on. My 95 Z's drivers window is up. It will not go down period. I've tried dozen's of times. It makes this clicking sound like it has a broken gear or is off track. I was just wondering if it may be something other than the standard worn out motor. The window has been a little sluggish since I got it about a year ago. It has never done this before.
P.S. I was racing around with a newer transam tonight and could not roll down my window to hear what he sounded like. At two lights we were beside a triboun? it must suck to be right beside the action and not be able to get in.

Re: Window skips

Does it click multiple times or just once? If it's just once it is probably a problem with the window motor going out, otherwise it may be a problem with a gear or the guides for the glass.

Re: Window skips

it clicks until you press the switch back up to stop the auto roll down feature.

Re: Window skips

Yeah, I would say it's not the motor then. Sounds more like the slides or a problem with the regulator.

Re: Window skips

honestly, i would pull the motor anyway, the window motor itself has the gears on it that control the regulator movement.. theres a possibility that it could have been jarred loose, or it could have busted off teeth and might not be engaging at all.

*besides, if it was going out in the first place, you'd need a replacement. so might as well pull it out to check..
