All i know is installing a heavier spring on the wastegate will allow longer boost. This may also allow for an earlier boost but not likely.

there must be a way to trick the computer into letting the fuel pressure come on sooner, in the big truck motors you can adjust the air valve

Higher fuel pressure doesn't mean a thing on the 7.3...most will run without the fuel pump even on. The actual injection pressure is what will cause more fuel and atomization. This is controlled by the ICP (Injection Control Pressure). Most chips up ICP by a considerable amount. Bigger exhaust will allow your turbo to spool up faster, but be warned, in higher altitudes with less-dense air, the turbo will over-spool if there is no backpressure. Remember, though...parts for diesels are expensive and more power usually equals more wear and tear.
