'96 Cirrus hard starting

My Cirrus occasionally is very hard to start. It cranks but won't fire,as if it is'nt getting any fuel. After cranking several long periods,it will go ahead and start. After it runs a while, it starts back fine. If it sits for a while as in overnight, it may not start right up,but then again it may. Sometimes it will sit for several days and fire right up. After it starts it runs fine. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.....sog

Re: '96 Cirrus hard starting

I'm having the same problems. I had the battery changed, new wires, plugs, starter. Still got the same problem. Let me know if you got a solution. Thanks

solution?????

I replaced the fuel filter and it has been starting ever since.
Unfortunately, you have to let the fuel tank down to access the filter.
Not too bad a job though.

Re: solution?????

I had a similar problem on my 1996 Cirrus - took it to both a local mechanic and the dealer - the mechanic could recreate the problem, but no idea at all.

Then one day, I let the tank run bone dry, and put a couple of additives in empty - haven't had the problem in over a year.
