Defrost vent not working

When I turn the defrost on in my car, instead of coming out of the vent by the windsheild like its supposed to, it decides it would rather come out at the feet. Anyone ever have this problem or know what might cause it. Its like the vent is closed and no matter what setting i puch, it will not open. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Defrost vent not working

i had that same issue with another car of mine, except the reverse, only came out at window, this was a volkswagen though, so i don't know if the vacuum system is the same for defrost, heat, a/c, etc. (for a honda, biiiiiiig difference between german and japanese) but take a look at it, could be something as simple as a loose connection...

Re: Re: Defrost vent not working

sorry, i might be confused with volkswagen vs honda set up, if i remember on a volkswagen it is vacuum lines that all end up at a series of connections controlling the directional toggle (i don't know if hondas are that different, a lot of american cars have the same relays), but mine wasn't moving it had bound up on something, can you move your directional toggle (side to side) or does it bind up at any point??....just curious because it could be two different issues...

i am trying to picture that issue in my car, i have a 92 teg, you mentioned no matter which setting you push (buttons??? or toggle???), do you have a newer one that the dash is different?

Re: Defrost vent not working

if neither of those is your issue, sorry i didn't mean to jump in, thought i could help, but i may have no idea what you are talking about, i have a couple buddies that are way into hondas and are mechanics, i'll ask them if they know what could be up....

Re: Defrost vent not working

Sorry ive been away for awhile .... yes im talking about the buttons. I push the defrost button and it comes out at the feet... i press the defrost/floor button... still only at the feet. I dont know much about the system at all and when you say vacuum lines and directional toggle im not quite sure what it is your talking about. Where would i need to look to see if it is what you are talking about?
