2002 Monte Carlo ignition locked, please help!!

When we put the key in it goes in all the way but it wont turn. The wheel is NOT locked but hard to turn without the power steering. Of course the window is rolled down and we cant roll it up without the car started. And, of course, we have had severe thunderstorms and more to come. We taped up the window but the wind and all the rain is just blowing it off. And of course the dealers mechanical department is close until Monday. Also, is this something someone could have done to the car to cause this? Could a mechanic do anything to it to make it do this a week later? We have reason to believe that they werent real happy with us due to a complaint about rapeated coolant problems not getting fixed. Also, if anyone may know of any other problems common with these cars I would greatly appreciate any info. HELP!! Please and thank you so much for your time! Great site!
