Dakota engine

I have a 1993 Dakota ext. cab and i was wondering if i could put a .318 and bolt it straight to the stock tramsmission is it possible?

yeah i have a 3.9L with alot of miles on it. so i can use the current stock transmission and drivetrain with the .318

do you have an auto or manual? If auto, the tranny for the V6 doesn't have the strength to handle to torque of a 318.

your V6 tranny is designated 42RH or A-500 transmission. You'll need an A-518 or 46RH to work with a 318. As far as getting it, you can pick one up at a junkyard for around $500 or you can buy a new unit for around $1100.

Alot of 96 & new dakota with a 5.2L come with the 42RE it will work fine might want to change out the torque converter with the right stall for the V8 thats all. I would be a good thing to do anyway with High mileage dodge.

hey i have a 1999 dodge dakota with a 3.9 and i have a 360 that im in the middle of building up ...i was wondering besides the rear end and the transmission wut else would i need to get the motor in ???
