Re: building a rs

Nothing really. It's pointless to do many upgrades because you will eventually have to change them out for ones that will cooperate with forced indution (ie: header, intake, cams, high comp. pistons etc. will all have to go)

The internals on the NT aren't as strong as on a turbo, so the best bet would to tune up the engine, and make sure everything is running perfectly. Buy a turbo and bolt it on, then go from there. If you're going to do any upgrades before buying a turbo, having the block bored out and cylinder head ported.

So basically, get the boring and porting done, maybe an exhaust, then buy your turbo and go from there.

Re: building a rs

you cant build part of it now then bolt on a turbo later. to use a turbo you need low compression to make power without one you need high compression. all your intake/exhaust shit will need changed to go turbo. basicly just save your money and then you can do it all at once. read the thread in the performance forum about turboing a rs/gs

Re: building a rs

I think I see what you're saying. Are you asking what you need to do to make more power after turboing the car?

As 1stgen said, read the thread already created on this subject.

15psi doesn't tell you much, because it's dependent upon the turbo you're using. As in, 15 psi for one turbo could be a far different airflow rating for another. Better to think in those terms.

For comparision, Hahn makes a well regarded kit that produces 250ish hp at 10ish psi on a t3/t4. Don't know the specs on that turbo, though. Even with a sleeved/built block you're not looking at a capability to handle too much airflow. It'll also be expensive. This is why most people sell their 420a for a 4g63. Not the engine, the car

I appriciate that the car is at a point where it would be easy to upgrade, now.

I jacked this from the thread you need to read, from Jake, on what to do to boost beyond 10-12psi;

"pistons and rods for sure... and if i were you i would do the valve springs too, if anything get them from a GST or a GSX... they have stronger ones so you wont have the chance of getting valve float and possibly bending valves! other than that everything else is fine! and since you already have the motor apart replacing the springs why not do the valves and cams... unless you really cant afford the extra 5-600, but it will allow you to flow a lot more boost!
