shift knob

i just had my transmission repaired and a week after i got it back from the shop i noticed my shit knob was loose. i tighetend it all the way but it is backwards...in saying backwards i mean the numbers r not facing me, and the contour of the shift knob isnt how it should be...i hope u get the point. anyways, its there anyway i can correct this and make my shit know straight again?

Is this one of those shifters with the big long stick? There is a connection under the rubber boot on the floor where the upper stick screws on the shifter from the tranny. This connection has a lock nut. Pull down the rubber boot and loosen the nut, turn the knob/shift rod like you want it and tighten the nut.
