Need engine for '90 Maxima

I am seeking an engine for a 1990 Maxima. What years are compatible? Is there a certian code i need to look for when looking for a replacement? And, does anyone know of any available or where I can look?

try google "jdm nissan v6" and get 50k japanese engine for 500-800$

first check out what is your engine, VE -or- VGE ---> get similar. then u will not have any mech or electrical connecting problems.

I suppose the -89 to -93 blocks are mechanically equal.

As the story goes, japan has a legislation that the engine has to be max 3 yrs old or they will tax heavily. That is the source for 'almost new' japanese engines... How to get them, dunno really. Some say they bought block for 500, but how to verify that?
