Question synthetic tranny fluid

Hey Ryan or anybody, can you mix synthetic with dino? The mercon in ours is somewhat burned & I change 3 quarts every 3k (when I do oil)! The truck has 120k & I just want the transmission to go a bit longer. My thoughts on mixing synthetic is usually the flash point is higher so maybe the burning will be somewhat checked. I wouldn't want to flush & fill with synthetic because the massive influx of detergents would clean too much varnish. We have always had the tranny serviced reg with 4 full flushes during the first 100k and many 3qt changer thereafter. Any imput would be apperciated.

Yes, you can mix synth with dino, no problem.
On side note fluid can just do this much...And you change it so offen...
If fluid really smell some what burned you tranny has some mechanical or electric issui...Try add extra tranny cooler...

Sure, any modern synthetic ATF can be mixed with conventional ATF without issue. I wouldn't bother running an expensive synthetic ATF if you do regular dump & fills. That totally defeats the purpose of a synthetic lube.
G/luck

Re: synthetic tranny fluid

What does 3 quarts of ATF cost? 10 bucks? Do what you state 10 times over 30k, you basically just paid for a flush. If you haven't dropped the pan yet to replace the filter it is about time.

If you are set on dumping 3qts of tranny fluid per change, I would save the cash and just use dino fluid.

It just bothers me that the fluid is smelling lightly burnt, not the worst I have ever smelled, if the synthetic will not burn as easily... it was just a thought.
